CADBURY'S ANNOUNCEMENT
21.01.2010 - Cadbury, one of the leading confectionery companies in the world and with a trading history of over a century, understood how committing to Fairtrade and at the same time satisfy the demands of the increasing ethical consumer society is a good deal for everybody. Cadbury's Dairy Milk Fairtrade chocolate was recently introduced into three new markets, namely Canada, Australia and New Zealand - thus reaching a total of five markets together with the UK and Ireland.
This substantial move towards mainstreaming will quadruple Fairtrade cocoa sales from Ghana (from 5.000 to 20.000 tons), hence considerably increasing the amount of Social Premium received by Ghanian farmers.
By the end of 2010, Cadbury estimates that at least a quarter of its global sales of dairy milk chocolate will be Fairtrade certified.
