Nicky Abrahams receiving her prize.Describe yourself in 5 words that start with the first letter of your name?

Naughty, nice, nutty, natural and novel

What motivates you to get up in the morning?

Sunshine and possibilities.

What is your favourite Cape Town activity?

Horse riding on Noordehoek beach, crayfishing in Betties Bay with my family and camping.

What do you love about South Africa?

The sunshine, the beautiful landscapes, diversity and the heart of the South African people. I also love how international we have become.

What makes you excited about Fairtrade?

The social responsibility aspect, definitely! Fairtrade looks at the bigger picture and is contributing to the redistribution of profits to the underprivileged and to a more equitable balance of income in South Africa.

How did you find your 2010 volunteering experience?

It was such an eye-opener and gave me a new perspective on business. It is refreshing to work with a non-profit business that has such a beautiful, lovely spirit and that thinks about the big picture.

What South African Fairtrade product do you enjoy most?

Wine of course, particularly Stellar Organics and Thandi.

Any message for other Fairtrade volunteers?

Get involved as much as you can! Be dynamic in your thinking and include Fairtrade wherever you are, school, campus, church, and in whatever you do.
