23.09.2010 - The BeFair Award South-South is an annual competition funded by the Belgium Development Agency and open to all potential or existing organisations that seek to promote fair trade within developing countries. The 2010 competition was won by a collaborative effort between Fairtrade Label South Africa (FLSA) and Fair Trade Soth Africa (FTSA), the umbrella organisation for fair trade in this country. The prize money will be put towards deepening and strengthening the South Africa Fair Trade Volunteers Program. Volunteers will now have the exciting and privileged opportunity to visit fair trade craft and agricultural producers in the country and learn about their work, meet their communities and see the impact of fair trade on the ground. Volunteers will be able to share their experiences with the public through stories and photographs, in so doing increasing awareness and deepening the fair trade movement in South Africa. This project will run predominantly in 2011. Two staff members will fly to Brussels to collect the award next week. Read the press release.
