South Africa and Fairtrade from the eyes of Harriet Lamb

"And yet it is always so inspiring that so many people are ready to give their energy to find solutions"
Harriet Lamb, Director of the Fairtrade Foundation UK

22.07.2010 - No volcanic eruption nor any other natural cataclysm managed to stop Harriet Lamb from visiting us this time! It was a pleasure for FLSA to host the Director of the Fairtrade Foundation in the UK, accompanied by the Foundation's Head of Media Relations Ms. Eileen Maybin, for a long week of Fairtrade dialogue in the office and on the field.

Our Fairtrade international guests joined us for the Licensee Roundtable as well as in meeting various South African stakeholders - who could take inspiration from the numerous success stories of Fairtrade in the UK (by the way...the UK is the biggest Fairtrade market, accounting for 1/3 of total global Fairtrade sales and where 70% of consumers are Fairtrade aware!).

But inspiration was definitely a two-way process! Read Harriet's South African experiences portrayed in the Fairtrade Foundation's blog:

Harriet visits Bean There Coffee in Joburg: SA's first Fairtrade coffee shop!

A visit to Fairhills - Fairtrade wines and crafts!
